Welcome to my world—I'm Nicole! I've been captivated by interior design since I was a child. It started with hours spent rearranging my Barbie Dreamhouse, then escalated to redesigning my bedroom (and my family without their consent) and eventually crafting elaborate homes in the Sims. By college (2007), my passion had turned into practice as I began offering my design services for free (Thank You, Ginell and Carlos, for believing in me!), transforming living spaces wherever possible. Just the other day, I heard from my very first client!

My journey in interior design is deeply rooted and has been a lifelong passion, no matter which twists and turns life has thrown at me along the way. I created a complete timeline below to get the full, honest picture.

Raised in Idaho with dreams of teaching, I found my true calling in merging education with design. Today, I proudly serve as your local guide, helping renters and homeowners create beautiful, functional living spaces. Over the years, I've reshaped countless spaces in California, Idaho, and Boston, often with some help from friends who've become quite the experts in art positioning and furniture shuffling (Alicia & Kelly, I’m looking at you!).

While I initially believed that a knack for placement was all about creativity and gut instinct, my formal education at the New York Institute of Design in 2017 taught me that great interior design also involves science, math, and lots of planning. I knew I didn’t want to go the traditional interior design route and design schools, hospitals, and fancy homes. I wanted to help people like me.

BHYH was born just two weeks before the big uh-oh. The 2019 pandemic allowed me to reflect and reshape my path forward. Faced with the choice to continue limited local projects or expand my reach online, I embraced the latter. During this period, I participated in a transformative 6-month workshop that refined my skills and shifted my concept to a fully remote format. This experience proved that effective learning can happen anywhere—and now, I'm excited to bring this possibility to you.
